About This Location

Henrico Doctors Hospital is a 340 bed community hospital 24/7 Adult and Pediatric ER, The Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute, Women’s Hospital, Virginia Institute of Robotic Surgery Center, The Heart Center at Henrico Doctors, Primary Stroke Center, and Virginia Transplant Center(specializing in kidney transplants).

Henrico Doctors’ Hospital has been serviced by the same local anesthesia practice since opening over 40 years ago. This practice joined NAPA in 2014. Henrico Doctors’ Hospital has been experiencing growth in both surgical and obstetric volume. The facility also recently became a Level 2 Trauma center. The case mix is very broad and includes, cardiac, thoracic, kidney transplant and neurosurgery along with lots of typical bread and butter cases. The local practice also provides coverage to Parham Doctors’ Hospital, Retreat Doctors’ Hospital and 5 ASCs.

Position Responsibilities

  • Assist in the directing and coordinating of Activities in the Anesthesia Department
  • Responsible for the medical management of patients who are rendered unconscious ad/or insensible to pain and emotional stress during surgery and other medical procedures
  • Pre-anesthesia assessment
  • Obtains and/or verifies patient consent
  • Discuss anesthetic options and risks with the patient
  • Induction, maintenance and emergence from anesthesia
  • Monitoring of the patient’s physiological condition
  • Performance of clinical intervention as needed

Position Requirements

  • M.D./D.O. Degree from an accredited College of Medicine
  • ECFMG and FLEX
  • Completion of approved Residency in Anesthesia
  • Currently licensed as a Physician
