About This Location

An excellent opportunity for a full-time call Anesthesiologist at one of Virginia Peninsula’s most comprehensive medical facilities combining the most recent computerized medical technology with a healing environment. With a 21-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and onsite neonatologists, it is a voluntary nonprofit short term acute care hospital that is a member of the Riverside Health System.

Diverse and challenging case mix includes vascular, neuro, bariatric, orthopedic, ENT, OB. Our practice operates under a collaborative care team model. New grads welcome.

Riverside Regional Medical Center is a 450-bed level II trauma center located in Newport News, VA. A great place to raise a family with excellent public and private school systems, mild climate and reasonable cost of living. Plenty to do with the local beaches, Virginia Beach, Busch Gardens and Outer Banks all nearby.

8 weeks vacation; competitive salary.

Weekday call is 7pm-7am with guaranteed post call day off. About 3 calls per month, CRNA in house.

Position Responsibilities

  • Assist in the directing and coordinating of Activities in the Anesthesia Department
  • Responsible for the medical management of patients who are rendered unconscious ad/or insensible to pain and emotional stress during surgery and other medical procedures
  • Pre-anesthesia assessment
  • Obtains and/or verifies patient consent
  • Discuss anesthetic options and risks with the patient
  • Induction, maintenance and emergence from anesthesia
  • Monitoring of the patient’s physiological condition
  • Performance of clinical intervention as needed

Position Requirements

  • M.D./D.O. Degree from an accredited College of Medicine
  • ECFMG and FLEX
  • Completion of approved Residency in Anesthesia
  • Currently licensed as a Physician
